Restoring Golf Course Heritage with Next-Level Precision

Where History Meets Innovation
Based in the United States, Hawk Shaw specializes in golf course construction and renovation, with a strong focus on restoring classic course designs to their original glory—infused with the precision and efficiency of modern technology.
Their work is grounded in tradition, but driven by innovation. Every course they build or restore is a testament to detail, quality, and a deep respect for the game. Looking ahead, Hawk Shaw plans to evolve its structure into a more defined corporate model—creating a clear chain of command and new opportunities for team growth, all while maintaining the hands-on craftsmanship that sets them apart.
Precision Is Essential
Grading technology has transformed the way Hawk Shaw operates. Today, laser and GPS systems are standard tools on every job. When restoring greens, accuracy is non-negotiable. The team grids each green on a 10-foot spacing to capture a precise map before demolition—a critical step in ensuring the restored layout matches the original design to the inch.
“Our dual-pitch tee boxes especially demand the best laser grading systems available,” they explain. “Without that level of control, we couldn’t deliver the results our clients expect.”
Finding the Right Tools with SharpGrade
The search for a long-term grading solution wasn’t taken lightly. “I did a ton of research before I got on the phone with Jamie at SharpGrade,” says the owner. “This was a serious investment for our business, and I needed to know it would last—and perform.”
Before making the switch, Hawk Shaw was using a Sand Pro with a drag-behind laser box and Apache laser system. The results were inconsistent, especially on turns where the box couldn’t adjust—leading to overgrading on the inside corners. Fixing it meant going over the area again and again, often taking an entire day just to finish grading one set of tees.
Working with Jamie, they developed a new system that paired an Avant mini loader with a SharpGrade grading box—and the difference was immediate. “What used to take eight hours now takes minutes. We’re grading up to six holes of tees per day.”
Easy Setup and Unmatched Support
Support from SharpGrade was quick, clear, and minimal—because it didn’t need to be anything more. “I made two phone calls during installation. In two hours, we were up and running. It was that simple.”
Even post-setup, help was only a call away. “I reached out once more to get the password to adjust the speed settings. From there, I was able to fine-tune everything exactly how I wanted it.”
Built Better. Works Smarter.
Hawk Shaw has used a wide range of grading boxes and machines over the years—but none compare to SharpGrade.
“Honestly, I don’t want to call out other companies, so I’ll just say this: SharpGrade smokes them all. It’s not even close.”
From the sealed, low-maintenance design to the exceptional performance in the field, SharpGrade delivers where others fall short. “There are no grease fittings. Everything is protected from dust and debris. It’s fast, it’s accurate, and I never second-guess my grade anymore.”
They’re especially impressed with the QuadGrade system and its receivers. “They’re the best I’ve ever used. You might pay a bit more up front, but you get real value. And when precision is everything, that peace of mind is worth every dollar.”
Hawk Shaw is setting a new standard in American golf course restoration—combining heritage, precision, and performance with the help of SharpGrade’s advanced grading technology.
